12.16.24 Western UP Materials Management Meeting

The organizational meeting of the Western Upper Peninsula Materials Management Planning Committee (WUP MMPC) will be held December 16, 2024, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. (eastern time) in the 8th floor conference room of the Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region (WUPPDR) at 400 Quincy Street, Hancock, MI 49930. Lunch will be served at 12:00 p.m. (eastern time) for committee members.

The WUP MMPC is a joint body of representatives who are responsible for the creation of a Materials Management Plan initiated by amendments to Park 115 of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, Michigan Public Act 451 of 1994. This plan will regulate solid waste disposal, recycling, and composting activities within the counties of Baraga, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon.

This meeting will include the election of officers, introduction to committee functions and responsibilities, review of the draft committee bylaws, and the materials management workplan. The committee will create a regular schedule and designate a meeting place(s) for future meetings.
