🧾 Candidacy Requirements:
To run for Bessemer City Council, candidates must:
- Be a registered elector in the City of Bessemer
- Not be in default to the City or to any school district, county, or other municipal corporation of the state now or previous
- File nominating petitions with 15–30 signatures from registered Bessemer voters
- File a notarized Affidavit of Identity
- Submit all documents in person to the City Clerk’s Office
- Address: 411 S Sophie St, Bessemer, MI 49911
- Office Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
📋 After Filing:
- Within 10 calendar days of submitting petitions, candidates must file a Candidate Committee Statement of Organization (if not done in the last 5 years).

🔁 Withdrawing Candidacy:
- Withdrawal must be submitted in writing to the City Clerk’s Office
- Deadline: Friday, July 25, 2025 by 4:00 PM (EST)

ℹ️ Additional Information:
- Bessemer City Council terms are two (2) years
- Council elections are held in odd-numbered years
- All council seats are elected at-large (not by district)
